Law 7/2024, passed on December 20, 2024, establishes a specific levy on all vape liquids, bases, and nicokits, regardless of whether they contain nicotine or not. The government’s goal is to align vaping taxes with those of traditional tobacco, aiming to discourage consumption. However, this measure has raised concerns among consumers and specialized businesses alike.

The new taxes per milliliter are as follows:

• Vaping liquids without nicotine or with less than 15 mg/ml of nicotine: €0.15 + VAT per ml.
• Liquids with more than 15 mg/ml of nicotine: €0.20 + VAT per ml.
• Nicokits:
  • 18-20 mg/ml: €0.20 + VAT per ml.
  • 10 mg/ml: €0.15 + VAT per ml.

How Much Have the Prices of Each Liquid Increased?

The impact of the new tax on e-cigarette liquids is significant. Here we show you clearly how much the prices have increased:

• 100 ml nicotine-free shortfill: +18.15€ including VAT added to the current price.
• 50 ml nicotine-free shortfill: +9.08€ including VAT.
• 10 ml liquids: An increase of between +1.81€ and +2.42€ including VAT.
• Nicokits: They will approximately triple in price, +2.42€ including VAT.
• There will be no price increases for Aromas, LongFill or unmixed PG or VG bases.
