On a lithium battery, the whole outer body works as the negative pole, except for the small top circle which is the positive pole. The thin ring separating both parts is vital. How do they attach to the battery?
The rings have a self-adhesive side. You just peel off the protective paper and stick it directly onto the flat metal top of the battery (around the positive pole button).
Should I place them under or over the plastic wrap?
They go under the heat-shrink protective plastic. Usually, you replace the insulating ring right before you put a new plastic wrap on the battery. This way, the ring is locked and secured by the new wrap.
Do they fit 21700 batteries?
No, the center hole diameter and the total size are made strictly for the standard 18650 format. They will not fit correctly on larger battery models.
